Sung Yeol KwonBacked by more than 25 years of professional experience, Sung Yeol Kwon began his successful tenure in academia in his home country of South Korea. After lecturing for one year at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, he subsequently joined Andong Science College, where he taught as an assistant professor from 1994 to 1998. In 2002, he joined the faculty at Pukyong National University (PKNU) as an engineering professor, where he continues to teach and conduct research today. During his time at PKNU, Dr. Kwon was afforded the opportunity to lead the department between 2005 and 2008, which is currently comprised of approximately 120 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students.

Alongside his primary teaching endeavors, Dr. Kwon has also served as a consultant to multiple organizations, including the Korea Strategic Trade Institute, Korea Meteorological Administration, National Research Foundation of Korea, Small and Medium Business Administration and Ministry of Trade Industry and Energy. Additionally, he is the author of the 2002 work, “Sensors and Interface for A Ubiquitous Computing,” having also contributed numerous articles to publications and scientific papers. Dr. Kwon obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from Kyungpook National University in 2000 and went on to conduct postdoctoral coursework within the Department of Physics at Université de Limoges in France in 2006. Notably, he began his teaching career at the age of 24.

Finding great success throughout the course of his career, Dr. Kwon has been bestowed with various awards and accolades. In 2016, the International Biographical Centre granted him the Sir Issac Newton Legacy of Honour Award, the Order of International Fellowship, the Cambridge Certificated for Outstanding Engineering Achievement, the IBC Lifetime Achievement Award and the International Distinction of Cultural Merit. That same year, he was also named to The Cambridge Order of Esteemed Intellectuals.

As part of his civic duty, Dr. Kwon became a candidate for congress for the Republic of South Korea in 2020 and plans to run again in 2024. Earlier, he served in the Republic of Korean Army from 1990 to 1991. Dedicated to his endeavors and fields, he remains active as a lifetime member of the Korean Sensors Society, a board member of the Korean Institute of Signal Processing and Systems, secretary general of the United Cultural Convention in Cambridge, England and deputy director of the Asian Branch of the International Biographical Center. Dr. Kwon has also remained a member of the Korea Physical Society and Polymer Society of Korea.
